13 March 2024 – Fondazione Santagata is proud to announce its special workshop “The Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy“, organized as part of the Master’s programme World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development. The workshop, including nine sessions and a study visit, promises to immerse the students in the cultural richness and historical significance of the UNESCO Site of the Sacri Monti of Piedmont and Lombardy.


The Master’s program World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development is designed to equip participants with the indispensable knowledge and skills essential for crafting cultural projects, with a keen focus on sustainability and integrated management models.

As an integral component of this comprehensive program, Fondazione Santagata orchestrates the specialized workshop – taking place from March 15th until May 10th 2024 – meticulously curated to delve into the intricacies of cultural heritage protection and valorisation.

Overview & Contents

The workshop is organized and coordinated by Alessio Re, Secretary General of Fondazione Santagata per l’Economia della Cultura, and will see the participation of esteemed experts, each bringing their unique insights and experiences to enrich the students’ learning journey.

In particular, some sessions will be curated by the researchers of the Fondazione Santagata, among which: Andrea Porta, Erica Meneghin, Giulia Avanza, Giacomo Vasumi and Camilla Lo Schiavo.

Study visit

Highlighting the workshop’s immersive nature, participants will embark on a captivating study visit to the Sacro Monte of Crea on March 22nd. This excursion – realised in collaboration with the Managing Authorities of the Sacri Monti and the Piedmont Region – promises to provide first-hand experiences and insights into the preservation efforts and cultural significance of the Sacri Monti.

Final project

In conclusion of the program, participants will channel their knowledge and insights into a project work centred on addressing challenges linked to the Sacri Monti case study. This final deliverable will not only showcase participants’ mastery of the subject matter but also demonstrate their ability to devise innovative solutions for preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
