Fondazione Santagata partners with the Accademia di Sant’Uberto on the “Sinfonie di Cultura” project to safeguard and promote the muscial art of the hunting horn though participatory approaches.
Context
As part of the award granted through the MiC’s Law 77/2006 for UNESCO activities, the Accademia di Sant’Uberto will launch the project “Sinfonie di Cultura: Synergies for the Preservation of the Hunting Horn” from September 2024 to mid-2025. This project aims to promote and safeguard the musical art of the Hunting Horn through a participatory approach, designed to protect and enhance this significant intangible cultural heritage. The primary goal is to develop socio-economic sustainability solutions that address both the needs of the heritage itself and those of the local territory, by actively involving the community and stakeholders in the design of events and training activities.
The initial phase of the “Sinfonie di Cultura” project involves a co-design process for both the cultural offerings and training activities of the Accademia, as well as for international events, with the community playing a key role and stakeholders actively engaged. This phase includes five meetings with strategic interlocutors for the Accademia to explore further collaborations that could strengthen the Accademia’s presence in the local area.
Objectives
The primary objective of the co-design process is to enhance the recognition of the Accademia’s activities within the local community and to design interventions that promote the transmission of knowledge about the Element, while contributing to the overall improvement of quality of life in the area.
Work Phases
- First co-design session with the Venaria Ensemble: This session will initiate a reflection on activities to be expanded and strengthened, with the goal of increasing the visibility of both the Accademia and the Ensemble in the local area and diversifying audiences. During this session, the stakeholders to be involved in the next phases of co-design will also be identified.
- Conducting subsequent meetings with the identified stakeholders, in collaboration with the Accademia and the Venaria Ensemble.
- Final feedback session with the Accademia and the Ensemble to present the findings and discuss the insights gained, which will help develop and strengthen the musical, cultural, and educational activities of the Association.
- Production of a final report on the co-design process.
Expected Outcomes / Impact
The co-design process will enable us to:
- Identify activities that will deepen the Accademia di Sant’Uberto’s ties to the local community, increasing its visibility and broadening its target audience;
- Establish connections with new interlocutors beyond the Accademia’s usual scope and reinforce existing ones;
- Strengthen the educational offerings, training musicians in the art of the hunting horn, thereby contributing to the transmission of knowledge about this Heritage;
- Improve the cultural offerings and overall quality of life in the local area. This will link to the next phase of the “Sinfonie di Cultura” project, which includes assessing the cultural and economic impact on the broader community through questionnaires distributed during events and surveys conducted with participants in the training activities.
