The second step for the definition of the economic development plan for Port Louis, capital city of Mauritius, has started. This project, promoted by Aapravasi Ghat World Heritage site and in collaboration with the Ministries of Arts and Culture, Tourism and Finance, is sponsored by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
The plan, that follows those guidelines of the UNESCO recommendation about the Historic Urban Landscape, but also its early international applied experiences, has the goal to set a complete and an innovative management plan for urban development. It also has to be built on conciliation between public and private interests, on actions that can create cultural and economic benefits and on synergies among economic activities in the cities and in the territory.
