Fondazione Santagata – on behalf of the Revejo Association – is conducting an impact assessment of the Borgate dal Vivo Festival to measure the value generated by the festival in the timeframe 2016-2024.
Context
The Borgate dal Vivo Festival was established in 2016 by the Revejo Association with the aim of promoting and enhancing mountain areas at risk of depopulation; in particular, the festival intends to raise awareness on this issue through the organization of targeted cultural initiatives. Borgate dal Vivo is a traveling summer festival featuring a program of large, site-specific events in small towns throughout the Alps.
Over the years, the Borgate dal Vivo project has expanded its scope to include new activities, such as the revitalisation of cultural centres and the creation of networks among local festivals and other entities. All the initiatives share the common goal of contributing to the valorisation and social and cultural activation of peripheral areas.
Objectives
The impact evaluation aims to estimate the festival’s impact on its territorial system, highlighting outcomes in the cultural, social, economic, and environmental spheres.
Work Phases
- Define the geographic area for measurement, collect data, and analyze the festival’s progress based on the Revejo Association’s Social Reports from previous years.
- Collect data on economic resources activated, identifying direct expenses related to festival activities and those of the participants. The tools used include the analysis of the Revejo Association’s financial statements and a questionnaire addressed to participants.
- Gather qualitative information on the social aspects of the events through semi-structured interviews with selected stakeholders.
- Translate direct expenditure into final demand, apply multipliers to estimate direct, indirect, and induced effects, and develop the overall impact.
Work Outputs
The activities described above will produce the following results:
– A research report
– One or more articles to be published in scientific journals or within chapters of books/research reports
