The Damascene Rose. From Syria to Turin is a cultural project stemming from the collaboration between the Royal Museums of Turin, the Fondazione Santagata for the Economics of Culture and the Syria Trust for Development with the aim of promoting Syria’s rich cultural heritage through the lens of the iconic Damascene Rose – inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List since 2019.

The project is an example of cultural diplomacy that aims to facilitate dialogue and cooperation, through the sharing of experiences, where the role of cultural heritage is to promote understanding, confrontation and reconciliation between different communities.

The following report provides an overview of the initiatives conducted within the public programme in July 2023.
