Report – Democracy in Practice

Democracy in Practice: A Cultural Gathering

This Report presents the outcomes of the first Democracy in Action workshop, held in Turin from 19 to 22 September. The event brought together institutions, researchers, and cultural organisations to explore the intersections of youth, culture, and civic participation.

It highlights shared practices, methodologies, and approaches from diverse contexts, with particular attention to the role of young people, women, ethnic minorities, and night culture in fostering democratic engagement through culture and the arts.

Fondazione Santagata’s contribution within Work Package 6: Youth and Civic Education is also presented, focusing on how young people engage politically through cultural initiatives. The workshop demonstrates the transformative potential of cultural practices in strengthening inclusive civic participation.
