The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage and the CSS-Ebla organize together the panel discussion on “World Heritage and Economic Development: Urban Regeneration in Historic Cities”, in the context of the 41st UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Krakow, Poland. The Panel takes place on Sunday 9th July 2017 from 1,00 to 3,00 pm, hosted in the Chamber Hall, Room S3, ICE Krakow Congress Centre.
The session, introduced by Shaikha Mai Bint Mohamed Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage, includes contributions on the following topics and case studies:
- Heritage and Sustainable Development: the Case of the Local Economic Development Plan of Port Louis, Mauritius and the Valorization Plan of Stupinigi World Heritage Site in Italy, presented by Centro Studi Silvia Santagata CSS-EBLA and the University of Turin;
- The Challenges and Opportunities for Urban Rehabilitation on the Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy World Heritage Site in Muharraq, Bahrain, presented by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities;
- Preserving Architectural Heritage, Adapting Historic Built Environment to Meet Modern Challenges: Revitalization in the Old City of Jerusalem, presented by the Arab Regional Centre of World Heritage.
The panel is organized thanks to the cooperation activities between CSS-Ebla and ARC-WH C2C on the UNESCO World Heritage Convention.
