March 20th 2024 – In the context of the exhibition “Africa. The Forgotten Collections”, Fondazione Santagata per l’Economia della Cultura collaborated with DRM Piemonte and the Royal Museums of Turin to create a public program of collateral events aimed at fostering reflection and debate on Africa and its cultural heritage.

As a culmination of this rich program, Fondazione Santagata organised – in collaboration with ICCROM – the international roundtable “Africa, Culture, Dialogue” on March 20th 2024 at the Einaudi Campus of the University of Turin.

The event featured prominent experts gathered to discuss the opportunities and challenges related to the conservation and promotion of African cultural heritage. The day was marked by brief interventions from participants on key topics such as youth, cultural cooperation, entrepreneurship, and social change.

The discussion aims to explore the role of cultural institutions and stakeholders in promoting understanding, awareness, and social change. In addition, the day’s proceedings will lead to the formulation of a shared agenda for future cooperation, with the aim of promoting the best practices identified during the discussions and increasing inter-institutional collaborations.

In conclusion, the roundtable stands out as an event of significant relevance in the current context, not only for its crucial role in fuelling the debate on African cultural heritage but also for the transformative impacts that it is set to generate internationally.
