ROLLI LAB: the Call for Ideas for Genova’s UNESCO Site
Rolli Lab, the call for innovative ideas to enhance the impact of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Genova: Le Strade Nuove e il sistema dei palazzi dei Rolli” on the city of Genoa, is now open.
From February 28th until April 18th 2022 it’s possible to submit innovative project proposals concerning the UNESCO site, within 4 areas of interest:
Genova Tutela: for the conservation and the monitoring of the heritage site.
Genova Promuove: to promote the historic centre and the enhancement of the system of Rolli Palaces and Strade Nuove.
Genova Coinvolge: to stimulate a bigger involvement of Genoa citizens.
Genova Accoglie: to enhance visitor management systems and a wider accessibility to cultural heritage.
The call is aimed at aspiring designers and entrepreneurs, start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises, associations, spin-offs and people who can apply individually or in a team.
The programme is structured in 3 steps:
– first step: launch and training (on March 24th Fondazione Santagata will hold a capacity building webinar);
– second step: selection of the finalists’ ideas;
– third step: promotion and development of the winning ideas and integration within the 2020-24 Management Plan.
The winners will be awarded during the Rolli Days.
Rolli Lab is an initiative organized by the Municipality of Genoa in partnership with Fondazione Santagata for the Economics of Culture as a tool for the implementation of the 2020-24 Management Plan of the UNESCO Site, with the aim of creating a dynamic relationship between innovation and cultural heritage, the whole city and the historic centre, by supporting creative ideas and encouraging an inclusive and sustainable approach to territorial integration, urban enhancement and accessibility, with a specific focus on the economic impact on the concerned area.
