Fondazione Santagata in Vietnam to kick off work on the Trang An Landscape Complex.
20 december 2024 – Fondazione Santagata has launched a new project in Vietnam in collaboration with UNESCO Viet Nam and the Vietnam National University – School of Interdisciplinary Sciences and Arts (VNU-SIS). This initiative aims to assess the economic impact of the Trang An Landscape Complex UNESCO World Heritage Site, focusing on achieving a sustainable balance between heritage conservation and responsible tourism development.
Over the past week, we engaged in a series of activities to inform the project’s direction. These included in-depth meetings with the VNU research team and the Ninh Binh People’s Committee to discuss provincial development strategies and policies. Field visits to the Trang An UNESCO site, local handicraft shops, and the surrounding areas allowed us to observe the interplay between cultural heritage and economic activities firsthand.
By collaborating closely with local stakeholders and immersing ourselves in the region, we gained essential insights into the community’s priorities and challenges. These activities ensure the project is tailored to the realities on the ground, laying a solid foundation for advancing the sustainable development of the Trang An Site.
This project underscores Fondazione Santagata’s commitment to promoting effective cultural management and leveraging cultural heritage as a driver of sustainable development on a global scale.
