Fondazione Santagata in Brussels to attend the International Forum “Reading in Europe” organised within the REEPLAI project
30 September 2025 – Reading is one of the fundamental pillars of personal and collective growth. It nurtures languages and traditions, stimulates critical thinking, fosters intercultural dialogue, and contributes to building a culture of peace.
In this spirit, on 14 October 2025, the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels will host the international forum “Reading in Europe: Promoting Language, Dialogue and Critical Thinking in the Service of Peace”, organised within the framework of the European project REEPLAI – REaders of Europe Play, Learn and Interact, co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme.
At a time of growing social and cultural challenges, the event will explore the role of reading as a tool for education, inclusion, and resilience, through dialogue between educational experiences and innovative models developed in different contexts.

Context
Launched in 2023, REEPLAI brings together the Fondazione Natalino Sapegno, the UNESCO Cities of Literature of Lviv (Ukraine) and Óbidos (Portugal), and the Fondazione Santagata for the Economics of Culture (Italy).
The project has enabled the dissemination across Europe of the Parco della Lettura di Morgex, a unique cultural space designed to engage children and families in reading through play and cooperation.
In partnership with the Lviv Municipal Library and the Ukrainian Association of Culturologists, REEPLAI has also highlighted the crucial role of culture in communities affected by war—reconnecting people with their literary and linguistic heritage, while opening spaces for dialogue with other European realities as a path to resilience and reconstruction.
