16 June 2026 – Fondazione Santagata per l’Economia della Cultura is coordinating the first edition of the international course of the ITCILO “Culture, Tourism and Creative Sectors for Sustainable Development and Decent Work“, taking place from 15 to 19 June 2026 in Turin and Piedmont.
The training programme welcomes 22 professionals and public officials from more than 15 countries worldwide, including Portugal, Colombia, Egypt, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, with the shared objective of analysing how creative industries and cultural tourism can generate sustainable development and quality employment.
The programme is structured around five thematic areas:
- Day 1 – Culture, creative economy and sustainable development: Margarita Lalayan introduces the works, Alessio Re coordinates a session on cultural heritage as a resource for development, followed by a study visit to the National Cinema Museum in Turin and to Caffè Elena.
- Day 2 – Decent work in culture and creative sectors: the sessions delve into the transition to the formal economy, skills development, and social protection, featuring a focus on public policies by Peter Debrine (UNESCO).
- Day 3 – Managing cultural and creative assets: Giulia Avanza, Marta Stranges, and Riccardo Ramello contribute alongside global partners from Arts Council Malta, The Phoenicians’ Route, CHFA, and IOM Somalia, discussing business models and cultural recovery in crisis contexts.
- Day 4 – Policies and territorial strategies: Margherita Licata (ILO) introduces the topic of social dialogue in the creative sectors, anticipating a full-day study visit dedicated to excellence models in the Langhe region between Il Bosco delle Galline Volanti and Grinzane Castle.
- Day 5 – Wrap-up and closure: the course concludes with a Knowledge Fair session and the sharing of the action plans developed by the participants for their respective professional contexts.
The initiative consolidates the strategic collaboration between ITC ILO and Fondazione Santagata in promoting international training for inclusive and equitable governance models for the global cultural sector.
