Fondazione Santagata continues its committment to Culture and Democracy
15 July 2025 – We are proud to continue our engagement in exploring the vital role of culture in fostering democratic participation and civic awareness by contributing to the project “Culture and Democracy Study and Peer Learning – School/Culture Collaborations for Civic Engagement and Critical Citizenship Education.”
Commissioned by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, the project is led by Visionary Analytics in cooperation with KEA European Affairs, and brings together a multidisciplinary team of leading experts and practitioners.
Fondazione Santagata – alongside HIVA – Research Institute for Work and Society and the Association of Finnish Children’s Cultural Centres – contributes to the project by sharing methodologies and evaluation tools, and facilitating knowledge exchange between cultural and educational stakeholders.
The project aims to:
- Gather concrete examples and knowledge on how to build strong, lasting collaborations between schools and cultural professionals to deliver impactful civic and arts education programs;
- Support the development of young people’s democratic values and civic engagement through participatory cultural and artistic experiences;
- Share evidence and best practices with educators, policy makers, and cultural professionals across Europe to inform and inspire new policies and practices.
