24 September 2025 – Fondazione Santagata is attending the UNESCO 5th World Congress of Biosphere Reserves held in Hangzhou, China, from 23 to 27 September 2025. The Congress is a major international platform dedicated to advancing sustainability and heritage protection.

In this framework, the Foundation is co-organising—together with the Region of Crete—the side event “Territorial synergies among UNESCO designated sites: unveiling potential for sustainable development” .

During this session, Alessio Re, Secretary General of Fondazione Santagata, underscores the value of UNESCO designations as catalysts for sustainable growth. His contribution shows how territorial synergies and innovative management approaches can empower communities, encourage knowledge exchange, and reinforce the identity, resilience, and attractiveness of UNESCO sites.

With this initiative, Fondazione Santagata reaffirms its commitment to international cooperation and knowledge exchange as vital tools for sustainable development.
