12 February 2025 – Fondazione Santagata is among the winners of the Horizon Europe call “Culture, the Arts and Cultural Spaces for Democratic Participation and Political Expression, Online and Offline” within the Work Programme on Culture, Creativity, and Inclusive Society.

Democracy in Action is a pioneering research initiative investigating how arts and culture-based grassroots organizations can enhance democratic engagement. Through partnerships with community centers, theaters, cultural hubs, and digital spaces, the project aims to develop innovative policy recommendations to foster civic participation and combat polarization.

In this context, our team is currently in Lisbon for the official kick off of the project.

Led by the Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society, the project brings together eight European partners* from six countries, including leading universities, research institutions, and cultural organisations. Fondazione Santagata is proud to contribute to this ambitious initiative, reaffirming our commitment to culture as a driver of civic engagement and resilience.
