Following the partecipation to Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo’s “Next Generation We” call, the Municipality of Terruggia (in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont) commissioned Fondazione Santagata to draft the cultural and touristic valorisation plan of the territory and to guide the process of participatory planning within the local community.
Terruggia is a small Italian municipality in the province of Alessandria, located in Central-Eastern Piedmont, an area inscribed in the “Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato” UNESCO World Heritage List. The Municipality of Terruggia commissioned Fondazione Santagata to draft the cultural and touristic valorisation plan of the territory and to guide the process of participatory planning within the local community.
The valorisation plan defines the proposal of intervention measures for an efficient and long-lasting integrated management of the different elements, acting on their potential of development and local impact.
The valorisation plan aims at positioning Terruggia for its cultural, rural and experiential offer, integrating the municipality in the area’s overall offer.
The study focuses in particular on the cultural heritage elements of the territory, on the territorial attractiveness factors and, in general, on the elements of innovation which are useful to provide a new integrated valorisation plan.
The activity is structured in the following phases:
- Analysis of the context (mapping and analysis of the site’s resources, of its stakeholders, of current planning; evaluation)
- Definition of the development priorities through a process of participatory planning (engagement of the community; benchmark analysis)
- Drafting of the valorisation plan (defining the action plans and the strategic plan; monitoring)
