Fondazione Santagata – together with Circolo del Design and Legambiente Piemonte and Valle d’Aosta – among the subjects resposible for the realization of the Green Culture project : a free training and capacity-building programme created to address the challenges of sustainability in the cultural sector.

Green Culture is among the winning projects of the Ministry of Culture “TOCC – Capacity building for the ecological transition” and financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU.

The course aims to provide strategic planning tools and managerial know-how to support cultural institutions in their process of ecological transition, strengthening the skills of operators and spreading sustainable practices in the sector.

The programme is addressed to:

  • Italian cultural institutions that wish to design their own ecological transition and innovate their work processes
  • Green coordinators: professionals that aim to acquire the necessary skills to guide and monitor the ecological transition of these cultural institutions.

Work phases

The Green Culture project is made up of three work phases for the total duration of one year:

  1. Training
From May to June 2024: online training course lasting 25 hours to discover case studies, best practices, latest practical tools on green transitions as well as moments of exchange and networking with the other national cultural institutions involved in the project. The commitment will consist of two mornings per week (9-13 hours), for a total of 7 hours per week.
  2. Monitoring
From July 2024: collection and monitoring of the necessary data to actively work on the ecological transition path of the institutions; the institutions will receive specific tools, incentives and best practices as well as ongoing assistance by the Green Culture team.
This phase will take place independently by the institution on the basis of the tools provided during the training.
  3. Co-design
Spring 2025: 4 days of in-person workshops guided by the dedicated green coordinator and led by multidisciplinary teams to design together the roadmap of the ecological transition. At the end of this phase the green coordinator will deliver the operating plan to the institution.
